1. What Is Webtronics Competition?

Webtronics Competition provides UTA scholarships to high school students who are interested in studying Computer Science at UTA. Each of the first three winning teams will receive up to $7,000 UTA scholarship to be paid out before August 31, 2007. The default distribution of the scholarship is to equally divide among the team members. But the team can decide to allocate the entire amount to one or two of the team members who wants to attend UTA.

2. Overall Requirements

Student teams are required to design and implement a school bulletin web site. The web site must contain at least a "Home" page, an "About Us" page describing the organization's history and mission, a "Current Events" page, a "Contact Us" page with addresses, map links, and other information. The web site may contain additional pages but must include at least these.

The scholarship requires the recipient to attend UTA Department of Computer Science and Engineering starting in Fall 2007.

3. Competition Rules

  1. Any student may enter the competition.
  2. A team must consist of 2-3 members who are full time high school or community college students during the time of the competition. The team members must work together to create the web site.
  3. Competition participation is free of charge.
  4. Each team must submit a zip file containing the web pages and a simple description of instructions to set up and view the web site to: webtroni@cse.uta.edu
  5. Submit the zip file before December 2, 5:00pm, 2006 for the Fall 2006 competition and before January 15, 2007 for the Spring 2007 competition.
  6. The teams are required to present at UTA on December 9, 2006 at 10:00 AM.

  7. There is no restrictions on the use of tools, programming language, JSP or ASP, the web server, and database management systems.
  8. All the members are required to attend the competition event at UTA except medical reasons.
