Webtronics: About Us
Webtronics is a special competition for community college and high school students that is sponsored by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Webtronics is designed to help introduce students to software engineering. There is a strong need for more software engineers and a good career field to consider. According to federal labor data, Texas is projected to have a shortfall of 17,000 computer science and electrical engineers by 2012.
UTA’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering has the only top-accredited software engineering degree program in Texas. The degree program is one of only seven in the nation accredited by ABET, the leading accreditor of college engineering programs.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, which as more than a 1,000 undergraduate, master’s and Ph.D. students, is part of UTA’s College of Engineering, the third largest engineering college in Texas.
