A team of UTA CSE students was among the nation's top 15 university teams who competed in
Microsoft's 2006 Imagine Cup national finals in May. The finalists beat out 300 university teams
nationally to place as finalists in the software design competition.
Vikramaditya Reddy Jakkula, Gaurav Jain and Sapna Mittal,
all master's students, made up UTA's CSE team.
The Imagine Cup is sponsored by Microsoft and challenges students to imagine and create new
technology to help create a better world.
"Imagine a world where technology enables people to live healthier lives" was the key objective of
the CSE team's entry in the competition. The team developed an application that allowed for patients
in their homes to securely transmit medical data, including images, to health care professionals.
The Imagine Cup competition is international, with final competition scheduled for Delhi, India,
in August.
