Graduation Related Dates
Spring 2008

IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO GRADUATE IN MAY 2008, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING, COMPLETE THE ENTIRE PACKAGE AND RETURN IT TO THE GRADUATE SECRETARY NO LATER THAN
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2008.


    IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU START THE GRADUATION PROCESS BY THE FIRST WEEK IN FEBRUARY. THESIS STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE ALREADY IDENTIFIED THE MEMBERS OF THEIR DEFENSE COMMITTEE AND CONFIRMED ALL MEMBERS WILL ATTEND THEIR DEFENSE. REMINDER: THE STUDENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MEETING ALL DEADLINES AND FOLLOWING ALL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS AS OUTLINED IN THE REGULATIONS AND INFORMATION SECTION OF THE GRADUATE CATALOG.

    The last day to file the APPLICATION FOR GRADUATION / DIPLOMA FEE form is FEBRUARY 15, 2008. You may obtain it directly from the Graduate School on-line website – VIRTUAL GRADUATE SCHOOL ADVISOR or you may use the form included in this package. If you submit the Application for Graduation on-line, MAKE A COPY FOR YOUR RECORDS. This form must be submitted to the Graduate School in order to graduate. A FINAL PROGRAM OF WORK (FPOW) and the APPLICATION FOR CANDIDACY and FINAL PROGRAM OF WORK (PHD STUDENTS ONLY) are NO LONGER REQUIRED. You may obtain a Graduate Package from the CSE Graduate Secretary which will provide you with all the required forms and procedures for graduation.

    You can make a room reservation to present your defense only after you have confirmed the date with your entire committee, insuring their attendance at your defense. Only one (1) room reservation per student will be accepted.

    The approved REQUEST FOR SCHEDULING A DEFENSE must be submitted to the Graduate School at least TWO WEEKS AND TWO WORKING DAYS prior to the date of your scheduled defense. You must send an email message to the Graduate Secretary advising her of your scheduled defense date together with the ABSTRACT of your Thesis / Dissertation AT LEAST 3 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR DEFENSE DATE. This must be formatted as ordinary text with no more than 60 characters per line. MS Word attachments, Post Scripts, etc. are not acceptable. NB: Your supervisor / committee may require that you turn in the Thesis document also at this time.

    The final date to REQUEST a Master’s Examination/Dissertation Defense and Submit Copy to Supervising Committee is APRIL 4, 2008. The final date to DEFEND a Thesis / Dissertation Defense and graduate in the SPRING is APRIL 18, 2008. The final date to submit the APPROVED Thesis / Dissertation document to the Graduate School is MAY 2, 2008.     Structured (Non-Thesis) students must meet with a Graduate Advisor for an Oral Exit Interview (FINAL MASTER’S EXAMINATION). Prior to completing the Oral Exit Interview, you are required to complete the ON-LINE GRADUATE EXIT SURVEY (https://cse2.uta.edu/graduate/forms/survey/). Please meet with a Graduate Advisor during their office hours during the month of APRIL. Your Oral Exit Interview must be completed no later than APRIL 18, 2008. Please note, the On-Line Graduate Exit Survey and Oral Exit Interview are mandatory, not optional and failing to meet these requirements will prevent you from graduating.
