A team of engineering students from the University of Texas at Arlington won third place
in the 2006 national AUVSI Student Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Competition. A UTA team won first place
in the national student competition last year.

CSE Receives $1.7 million in Research Funding
CSE has received $1.7 million in research grants so far in 2005-2006. The awards include $602,284 for
research on integrated cognitive systems from the Institute for the Study of Learning and Expertise,
$386,553 from TxDOT, $275,000 from the NSF to develop new applications integrating stream and event processing
and $100,000 for a security framework research project funded by the Texas Advanced Research Program.

CSE Team is National Finalist in Microsoft Software Design Competition
A team of UTA CSE students was among the nation's top 15 university teams who competed in
Microsoft's 2006 Imagine Cup national finals in May. The finalists beat out 300 university teams
nationally to place as finalists in the software design competition.
