Xiaohui Wei was advised by Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad and her area of research involves Multi-view video coding schemes.

Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad and Dr. Jiancong Luo receive 2007 Best Paper Award

Dr. Ahmad receives best paper award

July 1, Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad and his past Ph.D. student Jiancong Luo (a graduate of our department) received the 2007 Best Paper Award for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology.

The paper entitled, "On Using Game Theory to Optimize the Rae Control in Video Coding," was judged by two independent committees in a tough evaluation procedure. The paper proposes an innovative approach to controlling the bit rate in high-quality video compression for storage or delivery.

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology is ranked number 5 in all IEEE journals.

Dr. Ahmad and Dr. Luo received $500 cash prize each and certificates. The awards were presented on May 29 at International Symposium on Circuits and Systems in New Orleans.

Dr. Luo is working as a research scientist at Thomson Research Labs in New Jersey
