High school students from Arlington, Dallas and DeSoto independent school districts and other
schools participated in RoPro 2006, an annual robot programming contest for high school students
sponsored by CSE. The challenging, fun event was held on the UTA campus Feb. 4.
Students participating in the competition became eligible to receive one of 20 UTA scholarships
provided as part of the gifts and prizes for RoPro competitors.
Teams from Sam Houston High School in Arlington swept the competition, winning first place in the
competition's three divisions. A team from James Bowie High School in Arlington won the merit award
for artistic design and a Sam Houston High team won the merit award for engineering design.
The competition is held each year in February. Dr. Carter Tiernan, who leads CSE's outreach
activities, is director of the competition.
