Industry Leaders from Texas Instruments, Intel to Speak

Dr. Hans Stork, chief technology officer at Texas Instruments, will speak in the CSE Distinguished Lecturer Series on March 29. He is responsible for furthering TI's position as a top developer of advanced silicon technology and for the company's long-term research and development strategy.

Dr. Stork joined TI in 2001 from Hewlett-Packard, where he served as director of the Internet Systems and Storage Lab at HP Laboratories and as the director of its ULSI Research Lab. He began his professional career at IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center, where he researched advanced bipolar technology and circuits, and later SiGe (silicon germanium) technology, finally assuming responsibility for the Exploratory Device and Technology programs at IBM Research.

Dr. Stork has written or co-authored approximately 90 papers and holds five patents. He was elected IEEE Fellow in 1994 for his contributions to SiGe devices and technology. He received his doctorate from Stanford University.

Kirk B. Skaugen, vice president of Intel Corp.'s Digital Enterprise Group and general manager of its Server Platforms Group, will speak in the lecture series April 10. His lecture also will be in Room 100 in Nedderman Hall. Details

Professor Roy Campbell, the Sohaib and Sara Abbasi Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an internationally recognized researcher in pervasive computing and other areas, spoke in the lecture series in February. Details
